Texx (Tecla Ciolfi) is a music journalist who is editor of popular music website Texx and the City. As a leader in the music journalism in South Africa, its obvious after witnessing Tecla in her everyday work environment that she loves what she does.

 

Texx started her journalistic career writing for various SA publications, and then was the editor of free street press music publication Your LMG. During this time she started local music blog Texx and the City. The blog has evolved into the go-to site for all things South African music-related and she’s a prominent figure on the music scene. In 2016, Texx and the City won Best Music Blog in the African Blog Awards, which is a huge achievement considering the winners are based on traffic and engagement. In 2015 Tecla was named as one of the Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans to watch and well as one of House & Leisure’s Magazine’s Rising Stars in South Africa.

As one of Memeburn’s 50 Most Prominent SA Journalists on Twitter (2011), Tecla has grown Texx and the City into a fully-fledged music site that’s home to a team of young contributors who support the legends of tomorrow, today. Tecla is also the marketing manager and music editor of Deezer in South Africa for premium music streaming service Deezer in South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania and Senegal exposing the cream of our musical crop to the rest of the world.
