CONVERSE UNDERCOVER CHUCK 70 COLLECTION
As part of his Spring/Summer 19 show during Paris Fashion Week, legendary designer Jun Takahashi debuted his latest collection with Converse. Titled “New Warriors,” the Converse x Undercover collection features two iterations of the Chuck 70 silhouette with elements of both high-concept elegance and modern rebellion. Known for embodying a quintessential “Japanese cool” aesthetic, Undercover operates under the maxim: We Make Noise Not Clothes.
The brand evokes the unexpected through its use of materials, colors and cuts, and the Chuck 70 silhouette once again offered the ideal canvas to execute Takahashi’s latest vision.
Keen to emphasize his obsession with the divisive nature of fashion, Takahashi explored this tension through an execution inspired by opposing style tribes seen in 70s cult classic films. The Chuck 70 features a boot zipper, embedded between a laced zipper guard, to create an alternate lace-up structure with metal ring accents.
The silhouette – which typically features the iconic Chuck ankle patch – is also swapped with an embroidered “NW” patch, an abbreviation for “New Warriors,” a term also printed on the silhouette’s tonal toecap.
